Grasslands National Park — an Ecological Exploration with Don Scallen 7PM TUESDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2026 Orangeville Seniors’ Centre, 26 Bythia Street Free Admission, with Everyone welcome! Refreshments – Bring a mug
Come to our first meeting of the new Headwaters Nature year on Tuesday evening, September 29th, 2006, at our usual location at the Orangeville Seniors Centre, 26 Bythia Street, in Orangeville. We know Willy as an excellent photographer, and as a widely-knowledgeable field naturalist. He and his wife Audrey presented the book from the Owen Sound Field Naturalists on the Orchids of Bruce & Grey last year. We’re looking forward to another fine presentation about another topic that at least partially involves Bruce County — black bears! (Note that we are going back to our fomer practice of providing coffee and tea along with fine baked goodies. Please bring your own mug — and some spare change to help us defray the costs.) We are excited to have Nicola Ross, a well known author, environmentalist and adventurer, as our speaker on Tuesday, March 31st. Her Loop and Lattes hiking guides are very popular and cover many regions of Southern Ontario including Caledon, Dufferin and Halton. (Several of her guides have had input from some of our Headwaters Nature members!) Nicola is also a regular contributor to In the Hills magazine where she has contributed over 150 articles on topics such as environmental issues, profiles of local artisans and celebrities and of course outdoor recreation. At our meeting Nicola will be talking about the Credit River, threats facing the river and the important role trails can play in saving a watershed.
